P&K How is Harvey?
Katie: He is not a well boy, we have good days and bad days and just take each day as it comes.

P&K How did you feel with the speculation that Harvey’s condition could have been down to your lifestyle?
Katie: It is still so upsetting when people say that it’s my fault, it’s no ones fault. The doctors have reassured me loads of times that it is nothing to do with anything I did.

P&K Is it difficult to balance a celebrity career with having a family?
Katie: Yes, but I have a great support team around me. My mum looks after Harvey when I’m at work and he is now in a school that he loves. My management try and work around hospital appointments and I just have to juggle it all as any working mother does.

P&K What were your feelings when you heard that Harvey was blind and might be Autistic?
Katie: I was devastated when I found out that he was blind after a few weeks of him being born and he will have to be on at least 4 kinds of medication for the rest of his life, he might have delayed puberty and he may not be able to have any children. It makes me very sad for him, but I am a strong person and he’s my Harvey and I love him to bits.

P&K I understand Harvey can be quite a handful at times with head butting and hitting out, how do you calm him down?
Katie: I sing to him a lot, he likes nursery rhymes and little songs like row, row, row your boat. We also have special toys that flicker and we can both play together.

P&K How important is the support your parents give you and Harvey?
Katie: It is a great support network and my mum is Harvey’s grandma and he loves her and she is great with him! I couldn’t cope without her.

P&K: What was it like for both you and Harvey when you were in the jungle?
Katie: My mum actually flew over to Australia to look after Harvey as I only wanted to be away from him for the time I was in the jungle. I missed him like mad!

P&K How has Harvey related to Peter?
Katie: Peter adores him and Harvey loves Peter singing to him, we all have a lot of fun together. Harvey has related really well to him.

P&K Did you have any fears when you found out you were pregnant with your second child?
Katie: Of course as any mum would in my situation but there is no reason why my new baby will have this condition. It’s a one in a million chance, I’ll be ready to cope with it again though if I have to.

P&K How does it feel giving so much love to Harvey, but not able to get much back in return?
Katie: We have lots of fun playing and he is a happy little boy most of the time, I would love him to say “I love you” and cuddle me but at this present time he just gets lots of love from us and I just pray that one day he will give it back.

P&K Finally, the fact that you come across so positive about Harvey’s problems, what advice would you give to mothers who have a child with similar problems?
Katie: Find out as much as you can about what illness your child has, get good advice and be strong!P&K Katie, thank you for your time.
