Renault - Kangoo & Espace
renault kangoo   The New Renault Kangoo brings fun and design flair to families who require a true multipurpose vehicle.

Building on the success and heritage of the Renault 4, the Kangoo was introduced onto the UK market in 1999 as a fun, utilitarian, roomy, and cost-effective family car. The Kangoo suited family needs, using it for transporting goods during the week and as family transport at the weekend.

After four very successful years in the UK, the Kangoo has a fresh new look. Renault boosts the Kangoo’s standard equipment levels with new trims, improved driver and passenger comfort through enhanced accommodation and noise insulation. The New Kangoo's design, features smooth elliptical headlamps rising high in the wings, a plunging bonnet highlighted by a central crease with new colour coded bumpers.

Features renault kangoo
Every New Kangoo features the following equipment levels: Power-assisted steering, tinted windows, twin sliding side doors with opening windows, split-folding rear seat, rubber-covered boot, three height-adjustable rear headrests plus a map pocket on the rear of the front passenger's seat. Insurance approved engine immobiliser for added security with RAID (Renault Anti Intruder Device), which locks all doors once the car has started moving.

Two trim levels, two transmissions and three engines offer maximum flexibility.

Authentique
The first of the two trim levels available on the Kangoo adds 14-inch steel wheels, a 30 Watt radio cassette with fingertip remote control and height adjustable front headrests to the above list of core features as standard.

In addition, a whole gamut of optional equipment is available on Authentique including ABS anti-lock braking, front lateral airbags, air conditioning with heat reflecting windscreen, electric panoramic fabric sunroof with fixed glass sun port, overhead parcel shelf and aircraft-style overhead lockers and front foglamps.

Expression
The second trim level features the following standard equipment: Alloy wheels, ABS anti-lock braking, colour coded bumpers, body-coloured electric and heated door mirrors, front fog lamps, overhead parcel shelf and aircraft-style lockers, rear parcel shelf, 60 Watt single-CD HiFi with fingertip remote control, fully adjustable headrests, part leather upholstery, front lateral airbags, air conditioning with heat reflecting windscreen, electric panoramic fabric sunroof with fixed glass sun port, opening boot doors with rear roof flap in lieu of hatch-style door, allowing for carrying of long loads.

For better travelling comfort, noise insulation is also improved. The Renault System for restraint and protection remains with front driver and passenger airbags, two front side head/thorax airbags and front safety belts with pretensioners and load limiters.

Engines
Both trim levels are available with all three engines types. The 75bhp 1.2 16v. The 95bhp 1.6. 16v petrol and 80bhp 1.5dci diesel. The two transmissions options are, five-speed manual with the 1.2 16V and the 1.5dci and four-speed Proactive automatic for the1.6 16v. The 80bhp 1.5 dci turbodiesel engine provides performance which is particularly well adapted to both urban and suburban driving, offering a fuel consumption of 53.3mpg.

Among the petrol engines, the 75bhp 1.2 16v provides an excellent compromise for urban driving, with a return of 40.4mpg in the combined cycle.

The 95bhp 1.6 16v available with the four speed Proactive automatic transmission with its nine shifting strategies and the use of fuzzy logic, takes account of the type of driving and the road profile, and adapts its shifting accordingly making for ease of driving. This version achieves 35.3mpg.

renault espace The New Renault Espace better suits the diverse lifestyles of today's executive customer by addressing the needs that traditional four-door cars including BMW 5-series, Mercedes Benz E-Class, Jaguar S-Type fail to tackle.

Offering the possibility of fitting up to five individual seats on rails in the rear, and not just traditional bench seats, Espace provides seating for up to seven people. An integral part of the Espace concept is the "shared" dashboard with central instrument panel. The easy to reach air conditioning system, with split controls in the front and back has been customised to provide the maximum comfort to passengers in all three rows. Renault sets out to provide three rows of seats all offering first class comfort. There are two versions available Espace and Grand Espace. The latter, longer by 20cm.

Features renault espace
New Espace features a wide range of equipment designed for driving pleasure, such as a "see clear" switch which operates de-icing and de-misting of the windscreen, front side windows, rear-view mirrors and rear screen. An automatic parking brake automatically applies the brake whenever the engine is switched off in addition to all the conventional functions of a manual handbrake.

The Carminat Navigation System has a fold-away wide screen, incorporating a 6.5inch high resolution colour screen, built into the central section of the dashboard. The parking proximity sensor detects obstacles which may be present but unseen behind the vehicle. The electrochromic interior mirror darkens progressively as light levels increase. The door mirrors can be electrically folded simply by rotating the adjustment button to avoid damage when the car is parked. Headlamps and windscreen wipers are switched on automatically, adding to the vehicle's driving comfort. A light sensor switches on headlamps according to light level, and a rain sensor automatically starts the wipers and controls the wiper speed depending on the amount of water on the windscreen.

New Espace is equipped with the Renault Card, which allows manual locking and unlocking and the switching on of the interior light while the driver is still outside. Each of the cards supplied with the vehicle is associated with adjustments memorised by the on-board computers. It is therefore possible to benefit from memorised and individual settings for climate control.

Whatever the version, New Espace provides the same high level of safety for all occupants. Eight airbags are fitted to the vehicle, including chest airbags in the second row, a first in the MPV segment.

This saloon style MPV is designed to exude driving pleasure, underpinned by its two V6 engines unequalled in this class. Three petrol engines and three turbodiesels, teamed with six-speed manual gearboxes or five-speed automatics with flick-shift selection gives it a great choice.

Fuel Economy
  • The 3.5 V6 24v engine gives a top speed of 140mph, reaching 0 - 62 in just 8.1 secs. The 3.5 V6 returns a combined cycle of 23.2mpg (22.8mpg for the Grand Espace).
  • The four-cylinder 2.0 16v turbo engine on the other hand gives a combined fuel consumption of 29.1mpg.
  • The six-cylinder 3.0 dci V6 diesel engine, the first in an MPV, returns a combined fuel consumption figure of 29.7mpg.
  • The four-cylinder 2.2 dci engine which featured in the previous Espace provides a low fuel consumption of 35.8mpg in the combined cycle.
  • Finally, the 1.9 dci engine offers an outstanding fuel consumption of 40.4mpg for this type of vehicle.
  • The five-speed Proactive automatic transmission is fitted with the V6 petrol and diesel engines as well as the four-cylinder 2.0 16v turbo and 2.2 dci 16v units. With the Proactive control, this transmission adapts itself perfectly to any kind of driving.
